SWAMP ~ EXPERIMENTAL

This is a swamp we have north of the city. I traveled a long way to take this photo, but there was just one problem; the swamp had hardly any water in it!
We are now in year 3 of our Texas drought.
Still, I found the cypress tree 'knees' fascinating.
I put extra contrast with this photo to highlight the eerie feeling of swamps.
To me, I'm much more fascinated than afraid of them.
Of course, don't leave me out there at night without a flashlight!

FAN PALM

I love fan palms and this one is in my back garden. I did not 'pose' this photo like I usually do because I wanted it to look wild and tropical. I needed the foreground to look raw and asymmetrical...just like you'd find in nature.

INNER COMPUTER ABSTRACT ART

My brother had to take apart our computer this week. Here's a close up of another component.
It looks like one of those shading exercises one sees in beginning art class.
These are identical prongs that are all sticking up. The light source makes all the difference.

RAYS OF HOPE

This photo has a lot of meaning behind it. You see, our grown son has experienced a mental handicap and cannot drive his car for a long time. On the way to taking it to my dad's house, I felt utterly defeated by the whole scenario. That is, until a turn in the road lead me to this scene.
Rays of Hope coming from the Heavens.
God meets us everywhere even in our darkest moments.
It's not an award-winning shot and not even my best.
But to me the beauty is in the meaning.

LET'S GO TO STARBUCKS!

Our son and his friends decided to play music to get free coffee at a local coffee shop.
Yes, they got their coffee!

TEE PEE MOTEL in WHARTON, TEXAS

Most people have watched the movie 'Cars' and enjoyed the cute cartoons of the Tee Pee Motel.

But believe or not, they're REAL.

You can stay in one when you visit Wharton, Texas. Wharton is about 60 miles southwest of Houston just off of Highway 59.
The poor Tee Pee Motel fell victim to modern times and fell into disrepair after the 1960s.
It's an interesting story....but they were saved just in time....

MUHLY GRASS ABSTRACT

I really enjoyed snapping this shot of waving Muhly grass. It was so windy on the prairie that it was a given that this would turn out to be an abstract.

FLOWER POWER

The boldest flower I grow in my garden. It's native to South Africa.

SOAP DISH

It took 20 attempts to get the lighting just right. The soap glows and curves work nicely.
Enjoy!

LIVE OAK TREE at BALDWIN PARK

Kids love this grove of trees since the branches reach down to the ground.
Just south of downtown Houston in Midtown.

CIRCLE OF LIFE

Ladybugs found on a plant called Dock. Along White Oak Bayou.
I like the circle formed by the leaf as it loops around the love bugs.
