IN MEMORY OF THE WHEAT CROP

Our first agricultural casualty of this terrible drought was reported this week by Reuter's News Service. The Texas Winter wheat crop is a near total loss. We provide 5 to 10% of the wheat grown in our country.
This is a phtoto of one of the other 560 species of grasses found here in Texas. I found it along the side of the road in Katy, Texas.

Thanks for visiting. Maybe we'll get rain soon.

  2. A striking image David. Weather is a fickle thing. You are so thirsty for water and here in NJ it's rained every day for a week.

  5. This is a stunning shot though the news of the wheat crops is terribly frightening. We live in the middle of farmers out here in the country, and we are well aware how they depend upon Mother Nature to take care of them. Once a crop is lost, it is lost. Hopefully the farmers will be able to recoup some of their looses next year.
