This giant wall and roof had all the right elements for a nice shot in our museum district. The fine foliage textures juxtaposed with the solid wall; the dark to light to dark elements; the sun rays all moving towards my son, Alex, and his friend are reasons to add this photo to this week's Weekend in Black & White. Plus, it's Father's Day so I thought it would be nice to include one of my two sons in a picture.

this is lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great picture! All the elements have come together so well.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if they are stretching their muscles ready for Irish dancing. It's a lovely companionable scene.

Great photograph!
ReplyDeleteLight shadows - perfect!
love this...the proportions are so extreme, how interesting!
ReplyDeleteA nice shot, for all the reasons you listed. I like that the young men are in matching poses!
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day!
Hi David, the flower in the black and white this week was not a rhododendron, I'm not sure what the tree is called, it was here when we moved in. Blossoms from two posts ago http://orli-shines.blogspot.com/2011/06/fallen-blossoms.html are rhododendron. Thanks for visiting:-)
ReplyDeleteps...this just in from another blogger...it is a mountain laurel (similar, but not the same as a rhododendron:-)
ReplyDeleteSuperb! The people give dimension and lots of lines to capture your eye.
ReplyDeleteDavid, What a beautiful photo--all the elements are there for a great shot--shadows, lighting, that "big" wall, and your son and his friend sharing a "moment". Great shot! Mickie :)
ReplyDeleteHi Dimple,
ReplyDeleteThank for stopping by and the for the kind comments. Cassidy, by the way, is a girl, but it's hard to tell in the picture. :-)

Lovely lines and shadows in this.
ReplyDeleteIt is a small world. Cy Twombly has family living here in Lexington and is very well known in these parts. Love the photo with the Alex and Cassidy standing against the side of the building. Beautiful capture. Great in B/W.
