FLOATING DUCKWEED

It's not the easiest thing to capture. The camera wants to focus on everything BUT the tiny duckweed.
I liked the rhythm & diagonal movement on top of the water. This is our garden pond while it was raining here in Houston.
Hope you can float on over to our wonderful host, Dragonstar, at http://blackandwhiteweekend.blogspot.com

Thanks for stopping by. David/ :-)

  2. Well done, it's a tricky kind of shot. It's also very beautiful!

  3. Beautiful light and composition - and there are many other inspiring b&w pictures on this site!

  4. I too like the diagonal and the movement. The water is so crystal clear. Excellent shot David. Sometimes it's best to focus manually. My wife's little digital point and shoot drives me nuts. I'm comfortable with my manual focus film cameras.

  5. Beautiful shot, David. I understand about the focusing, I fight with it constantly. The duckweed is perfect in this though, it looks like a flock of tiny butterflies.

  6. I can see how the autofocus would be confused. It looks like a bunch of little butterflies. Can you switch to manual focus?

  7. Poetic! The picture, I mean. Also the comments: a bunch of little butterflies...

  8. Well I know this challenge! The camera has its own ideas of what you are wanting to photo and they don't necessarily co-incide with your own. I have this same problem when taking pictures of seeds. The camera simply can't get it into its head that seeds are just as interesting as nearby petals - especially when the plant is waggling about a bit in the wind. But how satisfying when you both agree on the subject matter at last!

  9. Beautifully captured! The composition is excellent and so is the mix of sunlight and shade. Top notch!

Paris scooter riders are dare devils that weave in and out of traffic onto sidewalks and around people. I think the guy in my photo gave a couple of quick beeps and swerved around the man and dog. :)
